Artist Statement

I look for beauty in everyday life. My inspiration comes principally from colours and shapes found in nature, with influences from past art movements, textile designs, fashion, dance, music and literature.

My work mostly focuses on colour, bright, harmonious palettes and sympathetic and stylised depictions of the natural world and people.

I want my work to stand out as rhythmic, vibrant and energising as well as pleasing and joyful. My aesthetic is my ethos, part of my approach to living that celebrates how beauty can elevate the human spirit.

Coming from a surface and pattern design background, I am interested in the decorative arts and their place in the everyday. I love to decorate, from hand painting vintage silk shirts to working on ceramics collections and writing and illustrating children’s books.
